Allowed Books

To be honest, it’s been a bit of a pain trying to incorporate so many books into the game. Usually, there isn’t a problem, as all the books are designed, to an extent, to be used with each other. But to simplify things, and to allow me as a DM to retain at least a few surprises (other than those pesky VOP half-orc monk/pallies…) I’m limiting what you as players are allowed to use to build characters. This list may change as we go through the game, with me adding books to this list as I become more comfortable with them.

Books Allowed

  • Player’s Handbook
  • Player’s Handbook II
  • Expanded Psionics Handbook
  • Dungeon Master’s Guide1
  • Arms and Equipment Guide
  • Eberron Campaign Setting
  • Magic of Eberron
  • Complete Adventurer
  • Complete Arcane
  • Complete Champion
  • Complete Divine
  • Complete Mage
  • Complete Psionic
  • Complete Scoundrel
  • Complete Warrior
  • Races of Destiny
  • Races of Eberron
  • Races of Stone
  • Races of the Wild
  • Magic Item Compendium
  • Spell Compendium
  • Heroes of Horror1
  • Fiendish Codex II1

1 Only certain elements, which must have my approval.

Like I said earlier, this list may change over time, but for now, this is what you as players are working with. Any book not on the list that you want to use can be brought to my attention, along with the reason why you want to use it. I am willing to work with specific build ideas. However, if your main argument for allowing a particular book is, “Once I get that feat, I can use it with this spell and this magic item to become totally invincible,” then don’t waste my time. And don’t be surprised if a heavy blunt object comes veering towards your face a few seconds later.
